Shoofly Block: Make 12
Assemble the Shoofly block following the illustration.
Press seams toward the center in the middle row.
Press the seams away from the center in rows 1 and 3.
After sewing the rows together press those seams toward the center.
As you look at the back of the block you should have seams that face in
and seams that face out for ease in alternating blocks.
Construct the quilt as the illustration shows. Turn blocks to alternate seams.
It should measure 23” square before binding.
Note how easily you can reduce the size to just nine blocks if you wish, or make it a table runner.

- From the red tone on tone fabric cut twelve 2” squares.
- From the green fabric cut forty-eight 2” squares.
- Make 48 HSTs with the red print and the blue. They must finish at 1-1/2”.
